Mashika

Mashika is set in a dusty and mysterious place. The small world exists in the eye of a hurricane. Flanked by powerful winds on all sides ever gnawing at her edges, there is no escape. No one knows what lies beyond. Some say that one day the winds will consume all that remains of the world in an event known as the end storm. They say what lies beyond is nothing but a land of ghosts from whence it is not possible to return and all that have tried have failed so far. Except for one... you.

In Mashika you play as a nameless ghostly figure. If anyone knew who or what you were before your return to the land of dancing shadows, that information has long since been forgotten. You showed up on the outer edges on a frigid morning. A windblown wraith you appeared as little more than a shadow to most who regarded you.

Mashika is set in a world beset by problems. Roughly circular in shape, the capital region located in the center was once thriving and bustling center of commerce and culture radiating out to the surrounding farmlands. The once verdant fields are now a wasteland. Since the deposition of the previous royal family, the world has turned into a dictatorship ruled by a self-styled demon king. A great buzzing being known as Mashika stalks the night and picks those unfortunate enough to encounter it off one by one. The few who live to tell the tale say he is a demon come from a land beyond the winds. Come to feed on a dying world like a fly to a carcass.

As you journey deeper into the abyss, uncover the truth behind your own existence and the fate of this desolate land. Will you defy the winds of fate and carve your own path through the chaos? Or will you succumb to the darkness that stalks your every move?
